Dear colleague,
I believe you
are familiar with the information that the Trade Union of doctors and
pharmacists of Serbia
– SLFS (which is also a member of the European confederation of independent
trade unions – CESI) publishes daily data on deceased colleagues who lost their
lives in the covid 19 pandemic. Up to this day, we lost 84 of our colleagues
(medical doctors, dentistry doctors, and pharmacists) and 32 nurses due to
covid 19. Unfortunately, the numbers are rising every day.
We are a small
country that entered the covid 19 pandemics with fewer healthcare workers per
capita than in European countries because of the ban on hiring healthcare
workers that have existed for years. State officials explained such a high
number of deceased colleagues by various reasons such as they are infected on
coffee breaks, and explanations “you are soldiers it is normal that you
die”, etc.
We are asking
you to help in research and analyzing why the mortality rate among doctors is
so high.
Thank you for everything you do for healthcare system in Serbia.
In addition, we are sending you our unprocessed data in the graphic display.
Kind regards,
Gorica Djokic MD,MSc, Ph
President of the Main Board- Trade union of doctors and pharmacists of Serbia (SLFS)
